Miniature popstar Prince is set to release 3 separate albums independently in 2009.
MPLSOUND and Lotus Flower will be Prince solo records, while Elixir will be a collaboration album with his protege Bria Valente.
The Purple Rain star is said to be in talks with a major retailer to distribute the music physically (because believe it or not, some of us still buy CDs!).
Lotus Plant is the more guitar-based of the three, whilst MPLSOUND is more electro, apparently featuring a guest appearance from star rapper Q-Tip, of A Tribe Called Quest fame. Prince himself has stated that the collaboration album is “nasty, but it’s not dirty”.
Prince’s last record, Planet Earth, was also distributed in an unconventional manner, as a covermount CD with The Mail On Sunday, before a more conventional release to the rest of the world.
